At AxonV we developed the electronics hardware (PCB) and the embedded firmware for a real-time medical platform based on an STM32 microcontroller. The system provides deterministic real-time control of laser pulse sequencing, shutter actuation, cooling subsystems, safety interfaces, and communication with the operator interface.

Embedded software modules manage laser pulse generation, energy measurement, power supply control, safety interlocks, and operator-facing status and diagnostic messaging.

The platform was designed both as an upgrade and replacement solution for devices already deployed in the field, as well as a scalable foundation for next-generation systems with increased performance requirements.

As the system operates within a medical environment, both hardware and software development were carried out in accordance with applicable medical standards, including ISO 13485, IEC 62304, IEC 60601, ISO 14971, etc.

Development scope included:

  • Hardware platform and PCB design
  • Real-time embedded software architecture
  • STM32 firmware development
  • Deterministic timing and synchronization
  • Integration of peripheral subsystems
  • Safety-critical operation design
  • Fault detection and diagnostic reporting
  • Compliance with medical device standards
  • System verification and validation
